$18,000 OK’d for removal of Ann Arbor neighborhood crime watch signs

ANN ARBOR, MI — Ann Arbor is digging into its cash reserves to take down hundreds of neighborhood watch signs.

City Council followed up its recent decision to get rid of the signs by voting unanimously Monday night, Jan. 5, to pull $18,000 from the city’s general fund balance for the effort.

Removing signs that aren’t traffic related doesn’t qualify for street funding and there weren’t available funds in the police budget, so drawing from cash reserves was necessary, officials said…
