Hundreds of new apartments proposed next to Trader Joe’s in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, MI — A six-story development is proposed to bring hundreds of new high-end apartments next to the Trader Joe’s shopping complex in Ann Arbor.

Farmington Hills-based developer Beztak, working with Chicago-based Myefski Architects, has submitted plans to the city to redevelop the former University Inn property at 2424 E. Stadium Blvd. near the Stadium/Washtenaw split.

The 1950s-era motel previously known as the Lamp Post Inn, along with a few other commercial buildings around it and the Journey of Faith Christian Church, already have been demolished to make way for the project spanning several acres along Stadium Boulevard down to Manchester Road.

“We’re really excited about it,” said Zachary Weiss, who oversees development and acquisitions for Beztak. “We think it’ll be a great addition in the community. We love where it’s located.”…
