Suspect arrested for vehicle break-ins in Ann Arbor’s west side

The Ann Arbor Police Department arrested a 25-year-old man Sunday for breaking into vehicles in the city’s West Side and Southwest neighborhoods. In an Instagram post earlier today, AAPD wrote the suspect was charged with three counts of stealing and retaining a financial transaction device without consent.

In an email to The Michigan Daily, Chris Page, AAPD strategic communications manager, wrote that officers arrested the suspect at 4:45 a.m. in the area of Hutchins Avenue and Davis Avenue, about a block away from Allmendinger Park and Wurster Park. This came after the department increased police presence in the West Side and Southwest neighborhoods over the weekend in response to an uptick in car break-ins.

AAPD identified a suspect last week and sent the case to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for review. Page wrote he will not share the suspect’s name until after his arraignment, as an investigation is still ongoing…
