Henry Ford’s intent to eliminate recognition of MLK Day will hurt staff, patients, and the community

As a Certified Nursing Assistant at Henry Ford Rochester Hospital for over 23 years, and a member of our union bargaining committee representing over 200 employees, I am in the difficult position of fighting for a contract that respects both our workforce and our community.

In negotiations, Henry Ford has insisted on many concessions, but one is particularly painful on this Martin Luther King Jr. Day: eliminating recognition of the holiday for Rochester Hospital employees.
