WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – Local schools and districts were already starting to announce closures for Friday ahead of the frigid weather expected to blanket the area overnight.
The National Weather Service issued a cold-weather advisory for counties across Southeast Michigan, including Washtenaw and the city of Ann Arbor, from 1 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, through 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24.
Wind chills were expected to be dangerously cold and as low as 25 below zero, according to the advisory, potentially causing frostbite to exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. The coldest conditions were expected between 4 and 10 a.m. Friday and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight into Saturday…
