The city of Ann Arbor announced it is enacting a temporary on-street parking ban beginning Sunday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. The decision came after the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Washtenaw County, predicting four to six inches of snow.
In 2025, City Council amended the Ann Arbor City Code to allow for on-street parking bans if residents are notified at least 12 hours in advance. The amendment replaced the previous odd/even system, where parking restrictions alternated daily between each side of the street during snow emergencies.
In a statement on the city website, the city wrote the ban will make it easier for snowplows to get through neighborhoods and minimize the need for return trips. The city also wrote the ban will end once snowplowing is complete, which it will announce on the city webpage and social media accounts…
