‘Keep our neighbors safe’: City Council expands ICE non-cooperation policy

More than 100 community members gathered in Larcom City Hall Monday evening as the Ann Arbor City Council voted to reaffirm and expand the city’s policy of non-cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The council also moved forward with the Arbor South development, approving a significant brownfield financing plan for the project on the corner of Eisenhower Parkway and South State Street.

The meeting began with public commentary and hearings, during which residents debated the Downtown Development Authority’s proposed Tax Increment Financing Plan, which would finance the DDA through 2055. The proposal would expand the DDA’s northern boundary from Kingsley Street to Depot Street and estimates costs for numerous projects totaling approximately $986 million. The council is scheduled to vote on the proposal in April.
