Two veteran broadcasters to retire from Ypsilanti public radio station

YPSILANTI, MI — Two longtime voices at 89.1 WEMU will step away from their microphones in June as the Ypsilanti station marks the conclusion of its 60th anniversary.

David Fair and Michael Jewett announced their retirements from the Eastern Michigan University public radio station, effective June 30, 2026, according to a Feb. 5 press release. Fair has served as news director and “Morning Edition” host since joining the station in 1994, while Jewett recently celebrated his 42nd anniversary as senior music announcer and operations manager.
