Yarn and fabric masterpieces shine at Ann Arbor Fiber Arts Expo

Crochet animals, woven tapestries and finely spun yarn filled the Ann Arbor District Library’s downtown branch Sunday as hundreds gathered for the fourth annual Ann Arbor Fiber Arts Expo. Fiber arts blends fibers, yarns and fabrics together to create clothing, home decor, accessories and display pieces. The event included a variety of vendors and featured hands-on activities, demonstrations and presentations.

Library technician Lucy Schramm worked with fellow fiber arts enthusiast Christopher Becker to put on the first AAFAX event in 2022. In an interview with The Michigan Daily, Schramm said her love for fiber arts inspired her to launch the event.

“We know that there’s a lot of people in Ann Arbor who are interested in it, so we wanted to see how we can bring that here while also having vendors, presentations and chances for people to do hands-on work,” Schramm said…
