After keeping their noses to the grindstone for the past two months, Michigan high school wrestlers were finally able to hoist some hardware during last week’s team and individual district championships.
The playoff atmosphere added even more excitement to some marquee matchups, including Rockford’s Brody Compau defeating Grandville’s Grayson VanValkenburg via technical fall at 106 pounds, Lowell’s Carson Blum over Hamilton’s Chase Morrison, 7-2, at 126 pounds, Westland John Glenn’s Khalil Linnear over Saline’s Brice LaFleur, 11-5, at 132 pounds, Bay City John Glenn’s Garett Hilborn over Clio’s D’Marion Erlenbeck, 17-6, at 165 pounds and Marshall’s Harland Begg over Fowlerville’s Layne O’Neil, 9-3 at 285 pounds. and Lapeer’s Jase Fuller over Oxford’s Liam Samborski, 7-2, at 285 pounds…
