Plymouth Township clerk resigns, citing cancer diagnosis, ‘hostile’ environment

PLYMOUTH TWP. — Township Clerk Jerry Vorva said a serious health battle coupled with a “hostile” work environment are prompting him to leave his position 16 months into a four-year term.

Vorva, who was reelected in November 2024, submitted a letter of resignation to the township board Feb. 18.

“It’s no secret that I’ve been battling cancer, really since I was elected back in 2016,” Vorva, 74, said. “It’s progressed to Stage 4, and I’m under treatment. It’s probably time.”…
