Ann Arbor construction: Wolverine Village and South U high rises

Members of the Ann Arbor community cannot walk around the city without noticing closed intersections and the construction of multiple high-rise projects. Although construction on the Diag and State Street has wrapped up, the city continues to undergo significant infrastructure development. Here are updates to some of Ann Arbor’s major construction projects.

South University Avenue

South University Avenue is fully closed to traffic between Church Street and Forest Avenue to allow for the construction of multiple new high-rises. Pedestrian traffic can pass through a temporary covered walkway, which requires cyclists to dismount before entering.

Chapter Ann Arbor, one of the new high-rises under construction, located at the intersection of South University Avenue and Church Street, will open with 625 new beds in an effort to keep up with increasing enrollment at the University of Michigan.
