Ann Arbor charts course for higher-density future with 11-0 vote on growth plan

ANN ARBOR, MI — The Ann Arbor of the future may have several high-rise development hubs throughout the city, from Briarwood to downtown and elsewhere.

And more condo and apartment buildings of various sizes — in some cases with ground-floor commercial spaces — may line mixed-use corridors like Packard Street outside of downtown, while three-story duplexes and triplexes may gradually replace single-family homes in low-rise residential areas.

And more corner stores and cafes may pop up in neighborhoods…
