An entire township’s board could be removed over a data center project. They’re fighting back.

AUGUSTA TWP., MI — A Michigan township’s board facing a recall effort of all of its members will have their day in court in May.

The recall petition was launched by a resident opposed to a hyperscale data center project. The seven elected officials in Augusta Township, near Milan, have filed appeals to fight the recall effort, but the hearing won’t happen until petitioners begin circulating the effort for signatures.

If the effort moves forward and enough residents sign petitions, that would prompt recall elections where township voters would decide whether to remove each of the elected officials from office before their terms end…
