Over 30 elected officials and local leaders from the Ann Arbor area sent a letter on Thursday to the Monroe Public Schools Board of Education and Superintendent Andrew Shaw calling for the district’s athletic director, Chet Hesson, to be reinstated.
Hesson was placed on paid administrative leave in mid-December after a clip of an interview he did with Uncloseted Media, a LGBTQ+ news outlet, was posted where he expressed empathy for a student at Ann Arbor Skyline High School on the girls’ volleyball team who had been the subject of anti-transgender harassment and the center of a Title IX complaint to the U.S. Department of Education from a parent of a student on the Monroe High School volleyball team…
