Westland man freed after 9 years in prison for arson granted bond ahead of possible retrial

WESTLAND, Mich. – William Frederick Wateley, a man who has spent nearly a decade in prison for an arson conviction, has been released on bond while prosecutors decide whether to retry his case.

Wateley, 60, was released on Monday (March 30).
