University of Michigan discrimination lawsuit by former professor faces dismissal hearing

ANN ARBOR, MI — A former University of Michigan tenure-track professor who sued the university three years ago for alleged racial discrimination and retaliation may soon face an unfavorable ruling.

A hearing on a motion to dismiss complaints by Somangshu Mukherji, a former assistant professor in the music theory department at the UM School of Music, Theory and Dance, is scheduled for June 18, according to a March 31 notice in U.S. District Court Michigan Eastern District.
