Weeks of torn-up pavement in Milan will continue as DTE Energy crews replace 13.5 miles of aging cast iron and steel gas lines with flexible gas piping. The utility expects work to be completed by September.
The construction is part of a 30-year statewide effort to replace 4,000 miles of pipe at an estimated cost of $3.3 billion, said Sabrina Wilson, manager of the DTE gas renewal project. DTE started in 2011 and is about halfway finished.
