PITTSFIELD TWP., MI – A Muslim man is suing the Washtenaw County Jail for $3.5 million after he was served pork during Ramadan.
Ibrahim Ibrahim alleges he became ill and vomited after he was fed pork in a meal served at the Washtenaw County Jail in 2025, according to a complaint filed in the Washtenaw County Circuit Court on March 16.
Ibrahim, a practicing Muslim, was incarcerated at the jail starting Dec. 2, 2023, the complaint indicates. He alleges he had told jail staff that Islam prohibits consuming pork and that he had been told the jail does not serve pork at all…
