A surprising late season cold front is about to hit Texas in just hours. Coupled with storm odds and cloud cover, temperatures across several Texas cities will see a dip, forecasters say. It won’t exactly be chilly. But as meteorological summer heats up the afternoons, it’ll bring a welcome (if short lived) reprieve from 90-degree days.
According to the latest from the National Weather Service, a “backdoor” cold front (northern air moving south or southwest rather than west to east) is set to send Texas temperature gauges dipping. While it’ll bring a welcome cooldown Tuesday night, June 2, and into Wednesday, it’s also part of a severe storm risk.
“Thunderstorms throughout the short term period will create conditional hazard cases for flooding, large hail and damaging winds,” the National Weather Service Amarillo office warns…
