Three victims of a gruesome street racing accident in Duncanville, Texas, that occurred on Monday, June 8, have been identified. The crash claimed the lives of three and left one with life-altering injuries. Two victims died at the site of the incident
The Duncanville Police received the complaint of the incident around 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of W. Wheatland Road and S. Cedar Ridge Drive. When the police arrived at the location, they found a damaged white Chrysler 300 and a gray Toyota Corolla at the site. 50‑year‑old Maria Rodriguez and her mother, 78‑year‑old Teresa Rodriguez, could not survive the injuries and were declared dead on the spot after medical support tried to revive them.
Maria’s son, 12‑year‑old Lucas Reyna, battled severe injuries and later died at the hospital, per CBS News. Lucas’ 12-year-old cousin survived but has sustained major injuries from the unfortunate incident.
Police arrest two suspects involved in street racing
Witnesses and bystanders told the police that one of the racing vehicles had crashed into the Corolla that carried the family. Meanwhile, the Chrysler driver did not suffer major injuries. The authorities have arrested 21-year-old Ronnie Coleman and 20‑year‑old Kishawn Copeland, who were involved in street racing that caused the fatalities.
They are charged with four counts of racing on the highway, which is a second-degree felony. The police said that the suspects were still on the scene when agents arrived at the location.
