Officials race to contain screwworm as cases rise to 12

DALLAS (NewsNation) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture has confirmed at least 12 cases of the New World screwworm, including one case in a pet dog in New Mexico.

The remaining cases involve cattle and other livestock in Texas, raising concerns the parasite is spreading to new areas of the states.
