North Texans are about to face decision fatigue when it comes to grocery shopping. The retail race is heating up as another of H-E-B’s competitors has moved on a plot of land in a Dallas suburb.
Arkansas-based retail chain Walmart has secured rights to a property in Alvarado at the northwest corner of I-35 and Highway 67, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) filing. With a population of just over 6,000, Alvarado has been dubbed a small area experiencing rapid growth in residential and commercial development by the real estate platform Homes.com.
According to a report submitted by corporate officials on Friday, June 12, the supercenter will be about 26 miles south of Fort Worth. And it won’t be small. State records indicate that the Walmart store will cover more than 170,000 square feet, roughly the size of three American football fields…
