What kind of civilized person answers a midafternoon knock if they’re not expecting someone? Then again, what if someone does open up? Which of us should speak?
Maybe they’ll have one of those fancy video intercoms so they can see and talk to us without opening the door. Either way, we figure that once we introduce ourselves and explain our purpose for the unannounced visit, it’s unlikely we’ll be invited in for tea and crumpets…
