Fort Worth Housing Solutions will cut the ribbon on Babers Manor, the latest piece of the plan to redistribute the units of the former Cavile Place housing project, Sept. 23.
The grand opening of Babers Manor, 4400 Ramey Ave., is at 9 a.m. Named for the community leader Clarence Donald Babers, Babers Manor includes townhomes and garden apartments. Fort Worth Housing Solutions opened the waitlist for the property earlier this spring.
The property is one of several that housing solutions and partners are building to create more than 900 units across Stop Six that will replace the demolished Cavile Place housing project and its 300 units.
The Cavile replacements are being done in six pieces:
- Cowan Place, with 174 senior living units at 5400 E. Rosedale St., opened in fall 2023 to tenant move-ins and held its grand opening that November. Cowan Place is named after Alonzo and Sarah Cowan, two of the earliest landowners in Stop Six.
- Hughes House Phase 1, with 162 units, held its grand opening in October 2025 at 4830 E. Rosedale St. Hughes House — named after the late Dunbar High School coach Robert Hughes — has a fitness center, clubhouse, dog park and 8,000 square feet of commercial space available for lease by JLL for uses such as a restaurant, bodega, pharmacy and other local businesses.
- Babers Manor, part of Phase 3.
- Hughes House Phase 3, 78 units, is expected to open next year. It is being completed ahead of the second phase of Hughes House.
- Hughes House Phase 2, 300 units, will have a community pool and splash pad. Construction started earlier this year.
- Miller/Rosedale: The timetable for this final phase of the Cavile project isn’t set yet, but the project should include about 125 units, a housing solutions spokesperson said.
