Major U.S. Airport Hit With Hours-Long Delays as FAA Restricts Flights

Travelers flying through Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Thursday are facing a disruption that could wreck more than one leg of a trip. The FAA imposed restrictions at DFW as thunderstorms moved through North Texas, with one afternoon FAA ground-delay program assigning average delays of 169 minutes and listing a maximum delay of 627 minutes.

That makes checking your flight before leaving for the airport especially important. The FAA’s daily air-traffic report warned that thunderstorms “could delay flights” at DFW and several other Texas airports Thursday, while advising passengers: “Always check with your air carrier for flight-specific delay information.”
