An I.M. Pei-designed house in Texas just went on the market for the first time—and it could be yours for a modest $22 million.
A 19,133-square-foot mansion in Westover Hills, just outside Fort Worth, has hit the market for the first time since it was built in 1969. The home was designed by the late and renowned Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei and is the largest of just three residences he ever designed, according to Realtor.com.
The 3.86-acre property is listed for $22 million, making it the most expensive listing in the Westover Hills area after hitting the market.
And this isn’t just a famous architect’s name slapped onto a big Texas house.
Pei designed the home for oil heiress Anne Tandy and her husband, Charles Tandy, a retail executive. The house has remained in the family since it was built nearly 60 years ago.
Pei reportedly described the enormous estate to House & Garden in 1970 as being designed for “two people—or two or three hundred.”
That makes a little more sense when you see what’s inside…
