Mansfield’s next City Hall is taking shape, but the project is designed to become much more than a new place to conduct city business. Rising near Heritage and Regency parkways, the 68,000-square-foot facility will serve as a civic anchor for The Canals, a larger mixed-use district planned around the idea of bringing people together to live, work, and spend time. The new building will provide about 28,000 more square feet than Mansfield’s current City Hall on East Broad Street. City staff is expected to begin moving into the new facility in spring 2027.
The move reflects just how much Mansfield has changed since the existing City Hall opened in 2002. That building was designed with roughly 20 years of growth in mind, a window the city has now surpassed. As Mansfield’s population and municipal needs have grown, city leaders have looked for a facility that can accommodate current employees while providing room for future needs. The new City Hall is intended to address that challenge while creating a more community-focused setting for residents.
Community space is a major part of the design. Plans include a Great Lawn of more than 9,200 square feet for city events, along with a round drive equipped to accommodate food trucks during gatherings. Rather than functioning only as an office building, the city describes the project as a “third place” where residents can attend events, gather, and connect with their community. That approach reflects lessons from events at the existing City Hall, where the city says attendance has outgrown the available space…
