Grocery Store’s All Self-Checkout Dallas Store Brings Back Cashiers

Sometimes as customers, we wonder if our voice, our feedback, and our opion matter. Here is one instance where it seems to have made a difference.

After three years, Kroger is reversing it’s store at 4142 Cedar Springs Road Dallas, TX from an all self-checkout location to once with a more traditional mix with both cashier staffed lanes and self-checkout options. Dallas Morning News reports that Kroger said the decison was led by ‘customer feedback’.

After three years, Kroger is reversing its decision to turn its smallest store in the Dallas market into an all self-checkout store. “We listened closely to cutomer feedback and made the decision to convert back to hosting staffed checkout lanes at this store,” said Kroger spokesman John Votava.

The division is strong on the self-check out topic. Most people either love it or hate it with a few in the middle that are fine with or without it. 2024 seems to be the year when several retailers including Dollar General, Walmart, and Target will be taking yet another look at the effectiveness of the push towards self-checkout.
