Brooklyn Sinclair, an Arlington High School senior, has become the first student from Arlington ISD whose animal has qualified for the Forth Worth Stock Show Syndicate’s Junior Sale of Champions. Despite her Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis, Sinclair has remained committed to her steers, traveling twice daily from North Richland Hills to the Arlington ISD Agriculture Science Center.

Sinclair’s steer, Kerosene, was sold at the Fort Worth Stock Show for $47,500. This money will contribute to her college education. Sinclair transferred to Arlington ISD in her senior year to benefit from its agricultural programs. The auction’s final amount surpassed her initial expectations.

The path to the auction was challenging. Over 4,000 steers compete, with only the top 270 reaching the auction. Sinclair was one of three students from Tarrant County schools to qualify. She bought Kerosene in May and prepared him for the stock show, purchasing him at a lower price due to his lack of popularity.

Sinclair’s journey became more difficult when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. Despite her diagnosis and chemotherapy treatments, she stayed focused on her schoolwork, her animals, and livestock shows, even scheduling her treatments around the shows.
