Blistering Heatwave Triggers Weather Warnings Across Texas

Weather Warnings Issued for Texas and Surrounding States

Dallas, Texas — A blistering heatwave has settled over much of Texas, prompting heat advisories and warnings throughout the state on Saturday.

In Dallas, temperatures surged into the triple digits before noon, driven by clear skies and a lack of rainfall. According to meteorologist Sammy Hadi with the National Weather Service in Dallas, such conditions are common during this time of year in Texas.

“It’s just a hot stretch,” Hadi noted. “Tomorrow, we expect more widespread showers and thunderstorm activity, which should help keep temperatures below heat advisory levels.”

While the anticipated rain may provide some respite from the intense heat, it could also affect the plans of many Texans. Numerous outdoor events and activities may be disrupted as residents prepare for possible rain showers and thunderstorms.

The heat dome covering Texas has also extended its reach to surrounding states. Excessive heat warnings have been issued by the National Weather Service for northeastern Texas, the eastern half of Oklahoma, northern Louisiana, and most of Arkansas. High temperatures are forecasted to be near or above 100 degrees, with heat indexes ranging from 110 to 115 degrees.
