Paul French, 31, was found unresponsive in his cell at the Dallas County Jail on Dec. 8, 2020, and was later pronounced dead at Parkland Hospital. French’s family sued the county and was recently awarded a $1 million settlement. In the suit, the family claims French was not properly medicated and died by suicide or as a result of action he took related to his mental illness.
