A 20-year-old former street gang member was sentenced to 30 years in prison in connection to a 2022 shooting that killed a man , according to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.

Ivan Powe’s sentence comes as he pleaded guilty to charges of murder, engaging in organized criminal activity, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, court documents show.

The District Attorney’s Office said Powe shot into a crowd of people on Nov. 30, 2022, leading to the death of 32-year-old Cortney Deshun Guy.

When Fort Worth police responded to the shooting call that day in the 1500 block of East Robert Street, they found both Guy and a 45-year-old woman shot.

Guy died and the woman was critically injured, police said.

Officers arrested the first suspect that day, 26-year-old Jerome Hall, when he attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle, ensuing a chase, according to police.

Hall was charged in Dec. 2022 with evading arrest and was later charged with murder.

Court documents show Hall is also facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and engaging in organized criminal activity.
