Arlington Police find drugs in backpack of man killed on I-30

Arlington Police say a man who was hit and killed on I-30 this weekend showed signs he was using drugs. Several people called 911 about 12:45 Sunday morning to report the man walking in and out of traffic on 30 near Fielder.

“Multiple drivers reported seeing a man behaving strangely, running in and out of the lanes of traffic and swinging his arms at vehicles,” Arlington Police wrote in an email.

They say officers tried to speak with the man on the shoulder of 30, but he “appeared to be paranoid and showed signs that he may be under the influence of drugs.” Police say he ran back onto the highway and was hit by a car.

Officers gave first aid, but the man died at the hospital; the driver of the other car was not hurt. Police say the driver stopped and will not face any charges.

Arlington Police say they found compressed spray canisters, marijuana, THC edibles and vape pens in the man’s backpack.

His identity had not been released Monday morning.
