What’s The Cause For ‘Backassward’ Cowboys Run Game?

For some, the Dallas Cowboys’ run game through the first three weeks of the season was exactly what they thought it was: bad.

With Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn all getting carries, the Cowboys haven’t been able to get a serious look at the run game and the offensive line cohesion due to game script.

Dallas has been down multiple scores early in the first quarter in its last two games, which means the run game takes a back seat, meaning no chance for a proper evaluation.

For head coach Mike McCarthy, building the chemistry with the offensive line and run game is made easier when the rushing attempts are up.

“This is not ideal,” McCarthy said. “When you’re looking at this format, particular statistics, and we’ve played three games, I don’t know what do we have, three-quarters of two-minute offense? …

“The No. 1 focal point for me is our run game needs more attempts, we need to get more attempts and we need to get in and out of concepts, and I think that in itself will help us.”
