‘Game of Thrones’ Is Trending Because of Cowboys-Steelers

“Sunday Night Football” brought us a Week 6 battle between long-time rivals the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers entered the game with a 3-1 record, good for first place in the AFC North. Dallas, meanwhile, sits in the middle of the NFC East standings, behind the Washington Commanders.

As the game was getting underway, Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. made his rounds on social media for how he introduced himself on NBC.

“Joey Porter Jr. King in the North,” the 24-year-old said.

Obviously these comments were a nod to Pittsburgh holding the top spot in the AFC North, but it was also a reference to the popular Max show, “Game of Thrones.”

“Game of Thrones” is widely regarded as the best television show to ever exist. It is a fantasy genre that takes place in a land called Westeros. The show follows many families (or houses) throughout the entire plot, one of them being House Stark.

The Starks hold a castle in the northern part of Westeros called Winterfell. With multiple deaths occurring throughout the story, the leader of Winterfell changes. That title started with Ned Stark and ended with his bastard son, Jon Snow. And whoever holds Winterfell holds the North. King in the North.
