ARLINGTON – The Mike McCarthy “hot seat” is a very real thing, and has been since the playoff debacle that closed the 2023 Dallas Cowboys season … and closed any real faith owner Jerry Jones had in continuing to employ McCarthy long-term.
Now we’re in the midst of a planned “Lame-Duck/Blow It Up” season, with Dallas at 3-5 and McCarthy, bless his heart, almost powerless to fix all the things that are broken, … a fact that figures to be on display here today at AT&T Stadium when the 6-2 Eagles roll in as seven-point favorites.
We are nearing the time when media and fans will start seriously collecting ideas as to who should be the next Cowboys coach. Lincoln Riley? Kliff Kingsbury? Ben Johnson? Al Harris? Deion Sanders? It’s all speculative at this point, wish those names just popping to the top of our thoughts (and not necessarily Jones’.)
But Bill Belichick is a real name. His FOBs (Friends of Bill) have long been planting the seeds as to a Dallas connection. And Jerry has talked openly about a fit.
