Authorities have identified Dr. Christopher Dawson, 36, as the man responsible for a devastating murder-suicide that unfolded in the quiet Dallas-Fort Worth suburb of North Richland Hills, Texas .
The heinous crime took place early Saturday morning, Dec. 9, when Dawson had fatally shot his two children, Luke Dawson, 9, and Aubrey “Bree” Dawson, 5, before turning the gun on himself.
The grim discovery was made by the children’s mother, Rachel Dawson, who called police at approximately 7:15 a.m.

Police reports confirm that Dawson used a shotgun to kill both children before taking his own life. According to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office, Luke died from gunshot wounds to his head and torso, while Aubrey was killed by a gunshot wound to her head. Neighbors reported hearing unsettling noises in the early hours of the morning, but no one initially realized the scale of the horror within the Dawson home on South College Circle.
