Wichita Falls mom, son travel to Fort Worth to donate hundreds of Prayer Bears

FORT WORTH ( KFDX/KJTL ) — It’s the most wonderful time of the year for the Albers.

Mom Mandy and 9-year-old son Keegan spent the morning of Friday, December 20, donating 542 Prayer Bears to Cook Children’s for the seventh year.

“December is an exciting month for us every single year,” Mandy said. “Between all of our drop-off locations, picking up the bears, bringing them down, and praying over the bears.”

Thanks to Texoma’s generosity over the past couple of months, the duo donated 442 bears and built 100 more at the Build-a-Bear Workshop. For Cook Interfaith Ministry Specialist Robin Brazell, it’s a game-changer for young patients.

“You see them take that bear and just cuddle it under their chin without a word,” Brazell said. “You know how much that bear means to that child at that moment.”

And they’re stuffed with love before each fuzzy friend finds their way to the kids.

“It’s my favorite part because I’ve already got a lot of Prayer Bears, and it made me feel very good,” Keegan said.
