FORT WORTH, Texas – A horse was successfully rescued after becoming trapped in a cattle guard early this morning, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department. The incident occurred in the 10000 block of Alta Vista Road.At approximately 5:30 a.m., Fort Worth Fire Department Rescue 38 was dispatched to assist the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office in freeing the horse. A TCSO Deputy sedated the animal to ensure its safety during the rescue operation. The crew from Rescue 38 then cut and spread the cattle guard to release the horse’s three trapped legs, a process that took about 45 minutes.After freeing the horse, the team used a skid steer to move it across the road and help it stand in the grass. The horse was able to stand and was subsequently loaded into a TCSO trailer. The animal sustained only minor cuts and scrapes and was transported to a local veterinarian for further examination and treatment, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department.
