Dallas police chase ends in crash and death of car theft suspect

DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- Dallas police are investigating a car chase incident that ended with the death of one suspect on Friday afternoon.

Officers say undercover cops discovered a theft suspect sitting inside a stolen vehicle at around 12:52 p.m. in the 2900 block of West Camp Wisdom Road. When these officers attempted a felony traffic stop, the suspect took off in the vehicle hitting a cop car that was unoccupied at the time and one other vehicle.

Police did not immediately pursue the suspect though they maintained visuals. It was after that second intentional crash that marked police vehicles began a chase. The suspect fired shots at cops without causing any injury. He ultimately crashed at Second Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue.

A passenger exited the vehicle and was apprehended while it was discovered the driver had injuries and was taken to the hospital where he died.

Police say no officers were injured in this incident though at least one marked cop car was hit. No officers fired their weapons.
