North Texas water bills climb as water demand grows in the region

North Texas water bills are climbing as the region grapples with a growing demand in its water supply.

The Texas Municipal Water District, which serves over 45 municipalities, is raising wholesale rates, citing rapid population growth as the main driver. Cities like Dallas, Garland, Plano, Prosper, and Richardson have already approved rate hikes.

According to the 2022 Texas State Water Plan, the state could face a significant water shortage unless measures are taken to improve access.
