Tarrant County mother arrested for convincing doctors to perform unnecessary medical procedures on her daughter

For the second time in a month, Tarrant County authorities say they arrested a mother who convinced doctors to perform unnecessary medical procedures on her child.

The case means Tarrant County Sheriff’s investigators think Lisa Campbell-Goins convinced doctors her little girl was malnourished and to give her an unnecessary gastric feeding tube. That’s what Munchausen-by-proxy is.

Investigators say Campbell-Goins then set up a Go Fund Me account to collect money. The Brown County woman has been arrested on charges of injury to a child, exploitation of a child and unlawful restraining.

Tarrant County Sheriff’s Detective Michael Weber says they are looking for, “anyone who’s given her money in a way shape or form because of the victim’s health we think it’s important for those people to come forward. While you might not think it’s important to the case, we think it’s important to the investigation.”

Last month, Tarrant County investigators arrested another woman on a similar child abuse charge.
