Cowboys Announce 1 Last Quarterback Move

ARLINGTON – The Dallas Cowboys are set to shut down the 2024 with one more game … and one more move at the quarterback position.

This Week 18 meeting against the Washington Commanders here at AT&T Stadium will not feature the injured Dak Prescott, outside of his service as a mentor. It might feature his replacement starter Cooper Rush, who is slated to hit free agency after the end of the season.

And as we reported earlier in the week, in what is now an open secret, third-string QB Trey Lance will finally come out of mothballs and is at the very least “in the game plan,” as a team source told us.

Want one more QB move?

Dallas has signed from the practice squad journeyman Will Grier, moving him to the 53-man active roster for this game.

He will likely figure to be the emergency third QB, so he is not scheduled to play unless there are injuries ahead of him on the depth chart.

Dallas is planning on featuring Lance to some against Washington, as he too can join Rush as a 2025 free agent.
