Fort Worth West 7th Entertainment District sees major crime drop by 36 percent as targeted policing delivers results

Fort Worth, Texas – Fort Worth is seeing promising results in its efforts to curb crime in the West 7th Entertainment District, with data showing a dramatic reduction in major criminal activity. Between 2023 and 2024, major crimes in the area dropped by 36 percent, a result officials credit to the increased presence of Fort Worth Police officers who continue to play an active role in discouraging unlawful behavior.

The area, commonly known as the King 12 area or K-12 beat area, is a well-known part of Fort Worth’s West Division. It covers not only the bustling restaurant and bar district but also more than 1,000 apartment units, additional residences, and various commercial properties. With such a diverse and busy landscape, maintaining public safety remains a top priority for law enforcement.

Fewer Guns and Stolen Vehicles Seen in the Area

One of the most notable improvements has been a drop in the number of guns seized within the entertainment district. In 2023, officers confiscated 115 firearms, which fell to 90 in 2024. In 2025, the numbers are even lower so far, signaling that proactive efforts by Fort Worth police are having a positive impact on reducing the number of weapons circulating in the area.

Vehicle-related crimes have also fallen sharply. Officers reported encountering just one stolen vehicle so far this year, compared to previous years when such incidents were more frequent. Other key crime reductions include:

  • Aggravated assault down 31 percent
  • Auto theft down 46 percent
  • Vehicle burglaries down 40 percent

These numbers reflect a clear trend toward safer streets in this busy district. Officers continue to stay vigilant with proactive enforcement to ensure these improvements continue.
