Heavy rain causes sanitary sewer overflows in Fort Worth, again, city says

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth officials said heavy rain caused sewer overflows at four locations, less than a week after a similar incident occurred.

The overflows do not impact Fort Worth or Arlington’s drinking water, the city said in a press release. People who purchase water from the public water supply can contact their water supply distributor to determine if it is safe for personal use, the city said.

The following locations were impacted by the overflows, according to the city.

  • 2220 W. Peter Smith St. – 5,850 gallons from 12:12 to 1:30 p.m. on May 6.
  • Area potentially affected: Clear Fork of the Trinity River
  • 304 Greenway Park Dr – 676,600 gallons from 2:28 p.m. May 6 to 2:39 p.m. May 7.
  • Area potentially affected: West Fort of the Trinity River
  • 7096 Enterprise Ave – 681,000 gallons from 10:19 p.m. May 6 to 9:23 a.m. May 7.
  • Area potentially affected: West Fort of the Trinity River
  • 1000 W. Green Oaks Blvd.– 500 gpm from 10 a.m., May 7 to ongoing.
  • Area potentially affected: West Fort of the Trinity River
