Over 200 residents from Fairhaven in Southeast Fort Worth came together last Saturday for more than just a block party. According to a recent City of Fort Worth article, they actively shaped their neighborhood’s future. The community gathering was part of the Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP), an initiative by the Neighborhood Services Department to enhance living conditions across various census tracts in Fort Worth.
Amidst the lively festivities, the Fairhaven locals dedicated their time to identifying and voting on improvements they wish to see in their vicinity, which is slated to undergo a $4.2 million upgrade guided by the residents’ feedback and priorities. Stickers were applied to visual displays representing different projects, and 79 surveys were completed; the community expressed a keen interest in curb repair, home rehabilitation, pedestrian pathways, crime reduction efforts, the addition of a splash pad, the planting of more trees, and safer routes for schoolchildren…
