Head Start services to be cut for almost 900 kids and moms in North Texas unless HHS renews funding

One of the largest child care organizations in Texas is could lay off more than 300 employees and suspend services to nearly 900 children and pregnant mothers as the promise of continued funding from the federal government remains uncertain.

In a letter sent from Child Care Associates to elected officials in Tarrant County and Fort Worth, the organization said it had not yet received confirmation from the Department of Health and Human Services that funding for the organization will be renewed this year, according to documents from the Texas Workforce Commission.
