Flood Watch in effect through Thursday with waves of heavy rain on the way

Prepare for impending rain showers, as waves of precipitation will traverse North Texas through Saturday morning. Flood watches are currently in effect until at least Thursday evening.

Exercise caution while driving and maintain a readily available umbrella across North Texas over the coming days. A robust and slow-moving upper-level disturbance is approaching from the west, precipitating the initial wave of heavy rain south of DFW, which will progress across the area throughout the morning, potentially subsiding during the afternoon. However, another wave of rain will form in the evening and persist through the early morning hours on Thursday. Temperatures are expected to struggle to reach 80°F today, dipping to the upper 60s tonight.

Conflicting data exists regarding tomorrow’s rainfall coverage, with the North American model indicating widespread heavy rain and the HRRR model suggesting the heaviest rain will occur east of a Denton to Fort Worth to Cleburne line.
