Joshua Emmanuel Scott, 26, who made headlines in January 2021 for the brutal murder of an Uber driver, was taken into custody on June 11, 2025, after a bench warrant was issued following a finding that he is now competent to stand trial. Scott is currently held at the Dallas County Jail.
The case dates back to Friday, January 8, 2021, when 33-year-old Uber driver Joshua Miller picked up Scott, then 21, at approximately 11:00 a.m. at the Amazon Fulfillment Center on Southlink Drive in Southern Dallas. Miller, who recorded both audio and video inside his vehicle, captured Scott pulling out a gun and demanding that Miller stop the car.
